Firestone Donates Tire Balancer to Two-Year Program
The two year Automotive Service Technol-
ogy program has received a slightly used
Hunter Road Force Tire Balancer, donated
by Scott Long and David Messer from
Firestone. Firestone and the Pittsburg
State University Automotive Service Tech-
nology program are partnered with Fire-
stone in the "Pit Crew" program.
Firestone works closely with the program
to assist with tuition for selected students
that meet the "Pit Crew" criteria. This is
just another example of how Pittstate AST
and Firestone are committed to students
and the automotive service industry.
First Annual Automotive Technology Student Car Show
Pittsburg State Automotive department kicked the fall semester off
with the first annual student car show. The idea was to get all automo-
tive students together for some camaraderie and to allow them to dis-
play their cars, motorcycles, and any other means of transportation
they use to get around. A menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, cookies
and soft drinks was served up to the students by the auto tech faculty.
The car show was attended by President Scott and was considered to be
an overall success. The idea for the student car show came from anoth-
er automotive school that PSU automotive technology department
meets with during the summer.
That school is one of five automo-
tive schools that the professors at
PSU meet with to share best
practices. All five automotive
schools benefit from this partner-
ship and the student car show is
an example of such cooperation.
