Kids n Kops
In July, eleven children participated in Kids N Kops. This annual, award-winning program is produced
in partnership with the Charlottetown Police department. At the beginning of the week the
children are given uniforms and are sworn in as assistants. They spend each morning at the station
learning about police work. In the afternoon, the police officers change into Big Brothers Big Sisters
t-shirts and everyone goes into the community to do something fun like play baseball or make a beach chair. The
children in the program get to see that police officers are ordinary people who eat burgers, laugh, and have fun. BBBS
would like to thank our police officers Melissa, Aaron, and Shawn for all of their hard work and thank Derek Lowther for
preparing the beach chair kits.
Gold Cup Parade float
This year, Big Brothers Big Sisters entered a float in the Gold Cup Parade.
Since this year’s theme was Playing on our Island, we created a float entitled
“Reaching the Finish Line”, which represented mentors helping children reach
their own personal finish line. The float team turned the Property Guys
Smart Car into a kayak. A Big/Little matche “rowed” the kayak, while
another match played the coach and race fans. A Big Thank You goes to
Allison, Kenny, Samantha, Hope, Maigan, and Collette for all their help!!!

Dwayne Pound Memorial Golf Tournament
Dwayne Pound was an active Big Brother and member of
the BBBS board in Moncton, New Brunswick and his
sister, Barb Goss was a Big Sister on PEI for many years.
Each year since Dwayne’s death, friends and family have
come together in August to remember him with a
memorial golf tournament which raises money for BBBS.
We would like to thank the Pound family for their
continuing support.
