Following is a summary of issues discussed at the DBED Stat on October 2, 2009.
Analysis is provided by StateStat and the Governor’s Delivery Unit (GDU).
General Discussion
• New Industry Task Forces. The Department and panel discussed the five new
commissions and tasks forces that have begun work and the associated goals. The
following tasks forces have begun work:
o 1812 Bicentennial Commission
o Federal Facilities Advisory Board
o International Advisory Council
o Small Business Task Force
o Maryland Economic Development Commission
• The Department was asked to provide StateStat and the Governor’s office with
further information on the progress of these panels.
• Financial Assistance Programs. The Department and panel now regularly discuss
the Department’s financial assistance programs to determine how to best leverage
limited funds and plan for future budgets. The following chart shows the number of
jobs created by DBED’s assistance programs in FY 2009 and FY 2010 YTD:
